This position of Compliance Coordinator will provide support to the property management and project management staff in the assembly of documentation to clear and cure violations that are issued by various government agencies. It will require acting as a court agent on behalf of the company, as well as managing the process to prepare court documents, coordinate and attend hearings as well as manage the follow-up afterwards. They will also prepare affidavits, take photos, label documents and create succinct files related to each violation so that it can be revisited to substantiate inter-related issues.
The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in pre-law, and be working toward a law degree, have 5 - 10 years of relevant commercial real estate/zoning/construction knowledge and experience to be able to understand the violations and the path to cure them. It is helpful if the candidate has engineering, code, zoning or related experience. Advanced degree preferred.
A proper candidate must also possess the following: working knowledge of building systems, sprinklers, and fire alarms, basic understanding of New York City’s commercial codes and processes, working knowledge of FDNY, DoB, DoT, DEP and Department of Finance websites to be able to effectively manage the violations dismissal process, experience with Environmental Control Board hearings, and working knowledge of all of Microsoft Suite.
